Did you know that assistance with paying Medical and Prescription Drug insurance premiums may be available to you as a Delta retiree? The DALRC Retiree Benefit Trust Hardship Fund and the Retiree Assistance Program (RAP) provide temporary aid on a calendar year basis for those who face serious financial hardship and are unable to pay for their medical/prescription drug insurance coverage.
Effective January 1, 2010, approval for the Medicare Low Income Subsidy (LIS) will be used to determine eligibility for grant status from the Hardship Fund or Retiree RAP. The requirement of Medicare Low Income Subsidy approval has been added to the grant process to assure that limited funds are managed appropriately to assist the retirees with the greatest demonstrated need.
Please note that there is no deadline for submitting an application for a new grant, however grants will be awarded on a calendar year basis, coincident with the calendar year for which the LIS was approved by Medicare.
As a reminder, the Hardship Fund and Retiree Assistance Program do not provide assistance for coverage other than Medical and Prescription Drug premiums.
If you have any questions regarding the application process after reviewing the material available here, please contact the DALRC Retiree Service Center at 1-877-325-7265 for assistance.
